Kamakura is home to numerous shrines, most notably Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, each serving as a guardian deity watching over the safety and prosperity of the region

Here in Hase, we have the Amanawa Shinmei Shrine, said to be the oldest shrine in Kamakura, founded in 710 AD by Gyoki (the high priest who built the Great Buddha of Todai-ji Temple in Nara)

This annual festival is held every September

In addition to the main portable shrine of Amanawa Shinmei Shrine,

The event is divided into five districts: Kamimachi, Shinjuku, Higashimachi, Nakamachi, and Otani, and each district will have its own children's portable shrine

In Kamimachi, there is also a "Mantō Mikoshi" (portable shrine) with four sides depicting brave young warriors, which is carried around each district on the eve of the grand festival

The procession joins the "Goddess Mikoshi" from Higashi-machi in front of the approach to Amanawa Shinmei Shrine, and after parading the mikoshi together for a while, they enter the shrine grounds

There will also be stalls and other attractions. In recent years, it has been bustling with local children
